The Cottages

The cabins are modern and comfortable with a luxury bed and a good bathroom with a shower and hairdryer. The studio-style space has tall windows, two armchairs to relax in and enjoy the view and a kitchenette – with a small fridge, pots and pans, a stove, a coffee machine, an electric kettle and a toaster.

The cabins are arranged in pairs but are private. Each cabin has its own deck with beautiful ocean and mountain views. Outdoor chairs and a table are provided.

The location was amazing, views everywhere! The owner greeted us as we were driving up, gave us a tour and welcomed us. The guesthouse was beautiful and clean! Did not disappoint.

Great service and location.

This place is peacefully amazing as it is a good place to look the Aurora Borealis as we saw it last night. Location is Great as we can just reach town centre in just 10 mins to buy things easily. The cottage is conveniently arranged and equipped with all essentials stuff. Most importantly host service minds are unbelievable, which we think it is the bests of its all. We do recommend your place to everyone who wants to visit Kirkjufell and nearby locations.

A stylish and modern place with the most beautiful views! Location is great; conveniently located between two small towns. Endless activities, hikes and excursions right outside your front door. Would absolutely stay here again!

Dís Cottages stand on the farm Þórdísarstaðir.

Þórdísarstaðir is a farmstead across the water from Kirkjufell mountain, Grundarfjörður. The farm is named after Þórdísi Súrsdóttur, the sister of Gísla Súrssonar, the main hero in one of the Icelandic Sagas.

Currently, there is no farming at Þórdísarstaðir, but we bring our horses there from time to time. It is in a very peaceful setting under the Eyrarfjall mountain.

The surroundings

Only 5-10 mins drive to Grundarfjörður, a small town with several restaurants, a grocery store, a swimming pool, and a harbour with bird and whale watching tours. Around half an hour drive east to Stykkishólmur, where you can take the ferry across the bay to the Westfjords. Only 30 min drive to the west you will find Snæfellsjökull National Park.

Dís Cottages are located at Þórdísarstaðir, near Grundarfjörður in West Iceland. It is an ideal location to explore West Iceland as it is in the middle of Snæfellsnes peninsula. Beautiful nature, breathtaking sceneries and adventurous activities are just moments away from Dís Cottages.
